How to post bail for someone at Todd Road Jail

Bail for inmates at Todd Road Jail can be posted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can post bail in person at the jail lobby or through a licensed bail bondsman.

When posting bail in cash, you must pay the full amount exactly. Once the case concludes, the cash will be returned minus any administrative fees, as long as the defendant appears at all required court dates. If the defendant fails to appear, the full amount is forfeited.

You can also post bail using a California-bank-issued cashier’s check or a U.S. Postal Service money order. Both forms of payment must include the defendant’s full legal name and booking number and be payable to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The defendant will not be released until the funds clear.

If you do not have the full amount, you can use a licensed bail bondsman. You will pay the bondsman a non-refundable fee, typically up to 10% of the total bail. If the defendant attends all court hearings, you owe nothing more. If they fail to appear, you will be responsible for the full bail amount. Once bail is posted and processed, the inmate is usually released within a few hours.
