The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two Los Angeles men in connection with at least one commercial burglary in Thousand Oaks. The men, Dominique Lewis, 24, and Thurman Sutton, 28, were arrested following a burglary at the Latino Market on Thousand Oaks Boulevard. Police believe that the men are also responsible for a series of restaurant, gas station and retail burglaries. While the men only got $4 in the burglary that led to their arrest, a previous burglary at the Latino Market netted the thieves $30,000.
Burglary suspects arrested with cash, items from store
Police were alerted to the early-morning burglary at the Latino Market, and were able to develop a description of the suspects’ vehicle. Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the pair fled. During the chase, the suspects crashed into a fence. Three or four people exited the vehicle. Deputies were able to arrest one man at the scene. A second person was arrested near a teen center by the crash site. A safe and money were found in the vehicle, and the men who were arrested were each carrying large sums of cash. Both men are affiliated with a Los Angeles gang. Both men were booked on charges of suspicion of commercial burglary, hit-and-run, evading and resisting arrest, and received bonds of $60,000 to $80,000.
