Embezzlement Charge for Disney Cruise Employee
Embezzlement Charge for Disney Cruise Employee
Federal authorities charged a former Disney employee with embezzlement from the company. Authorities arrested the employee, who worked on a Disney cruise ship when the ship made port in San Diego earlier this year.

Following his arrest, the employee confessed to the scheme to defraud the company of $275,000. The man is a Brazilian citizen. Investigators say that the man used his access to the VeriFone payment system to steal money from the company. He had been employed in a gift shop aboard the Disney Wonder.

Federal investigators say that the man made unauthorized charges against a Disney account, then loaded funds onto Disney gift cards. The man used some of the funds to take his family on a Disney World vacation. He allegedly used the gift cards to pay for food, accommodations, merchandise and entertainment.
