Ventura police arrested a 25-year-old man for an attempted vehicle burglary initially witnessed and reported by a citizen. Police arrested Miguel Hernandez, of Ventura after a citizen saw Hernandez attempt to break into numerous vehicles parked on a neighborhood street. The citizen described Hernandez, whom Ventura police found in the area just a short time later.

Traffic Stop Turns Up Vehicle Burglary Suspect, Tools

Following a traffic stop, Ventura police discovered that Hernandez had a modified or “shaved” car key in his possession, which can be used to conduct a vehicle burglary. Hernandez was arrested and lodged in the Ventura County Jail, booked on charges of attempted vehicle burglary and being in possession of burglary tools. Hernandez was also later charged with grand theft, when the car he was driving at the time of his arrest was reported stolen.
