A 72-year old Simi Valley man was arrested and charged with assault after attacking his nephew with a baseball bat and brandishing a handgun outside his home one afternoon earlier this month. The man then went inside and stopped responding to negotiators. At about 10:00 PM, the man was arrested without further incident.
Alcohol may have fueled assault
Neighbors from about 15 nearby homes were removed from the area at about 7:00 PM as a safety precaution. Some speculated that the subject, Raymond Williams, may have been drinking, and may have fallen asleep inside his home. During the actual assault, the nephew, who is in his 50’s, received only minor injuries.
