Identity Theft Plea in Oxnard Embezzlement Case
An Oxnard woman pleaded guilty to identity theft after embezzling more than a half-million dollars. The woman worked as a bookkeeper for an elderly resident. She also pleaded guilty to grand theft, forgery and elder/dependent fraud.

The victim is an elderly, disabled Oxnard resident who owns a real estate company. According to investigators, the woman forged checks, and also paid for personal expenses using the company debit card. She misappropriated money that was intended to pay the property taxes on properties the company owns. Investigators have found evidence suggesting that the woman stole nearly $750,000 from the company over a period of years.

In April, the woman pleaded not guilty to the charges against her. Recently, she changed her plea to guilty for all nine felony charges. She remains jailed without b ail and will return to court on September 3 for sentencing.
