DUI Bust in Simi Valley
DUI Bust in Simi Valley
A Simi Valley man was arrested on suspicion of
DUI, after local police observed the man driving in excess of 100 mph last month on Highway 118. Officers from the Simi Valley Police Department pursued the vehicle and stopped the driver near the Kuehner Drive exit.

Just after 1:00 AM on June 27, police spotted the man’s car driving at an unsafe speed and making dangerous lane changes. The driver, a 36-year-old Simi Valley resident, failed field sobriety tests and had an initial breath-alcohol readings of .21 and .22 at the scene of the arrest. California’s DUI threshold is .08.

Additionally, police discovered that the man had already had an ignition interlock device installed on his vehicle, and had disabled it in order to get the vehicle started. He was arrested and taken to the Ventura County Jail.

An aggressive DUI attorney

Drunk driving laws in California carry some serious penalties. When you’re arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, you’ll be subjected to two separate processes that will determine sanctions against you. The first and most immediate process is administrative, and it conducted by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

During this administrative process, your driver’s license will be suspended immediately, and will not be restored at least until you have completed an in-person hearing at the DMV. Completing the hearing does not guarantee that your license will be reinstated. Most likely, your driving will be restricted or your license will be revoked for some period of time.

The criminal process may take longer to work through, and may result in additional suspension of your driving privileges or the revocation of your driver license. In addition, you could be sentenced to jail time, prison time, fines, driving restrictions and other costs associated with your conviction.

Do not attempt to defend yourself in a DUI case. Instead, hire an experienced, aggressive DUI attorney who will fight to reduce or eliminate charges against you.
