7 nabbed in Simi Valley sex crimes sting
Seven men were arrested last month in a prostitution sting operation conducted by the Simi Valley Police Department. The seven men were charged with misdemeanor sex crimes, specifically solicitation of prostitution. Six of the seven are from Ventura County. The seventh man is a resident of North Hollywood.

The sting was conducted by the Special Operations Unit, which placed an online advertisement offering adult services. When the targets called, they were asked to set up an appointment to meet. When the men arrived at the meeting location, they were arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail.

Police departments throughout Ventura County have been conducting sex crimes operations, targeting both prostitutes and people who solicit them. In February, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department arrested four women accused of prostitution in Camarillo and Thousand Oaks. In April, a multi-jurisdictional operation conducted by the Simi Valley Police Department, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the Oxnard Police Department, the Ventura Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and Homeland Security resulted in the arrests of 14 men, most of whom are residents of Oxnard.

A Trusted Sex Crimes Lawyer

Sting investigations pose a real danger for prosecutors because they straddle a very thin line between what’s legally permissible and investigative or prosecutorial misconduct. Mr. Helfend’s more than 30 years of experience as a sex crimes lawyer in Ventura County and throughout Southern California can work on your behalf.

Mr. Helfend has extensive experience in providing solid, aggressive criminal defense on behalf of his clients. Prosecutors often like sex crimes cases like prostitution stings. Few defendants contest the charges because they want to keep their names and pictures out of the paper. They may be attempting to hide their arrests from their employers, their families and their acquaintances, so they will do what it takes to avoid publicity.

Many sting operations border on entrapment, but it takes a skilled, experienced criminal defense attorney to defend against these misdemeanor sex crimes in court. Robert Helfend’s experience can help get the charges against you reduced or dropped altogether. With the help of an aggressive criminal defense attorney, you may be able to defend yourself in court while preserving your privacy and that of your family.

Don’t rely on an inexperienced sex crimes lawyer, don’t attempt to defend yourself and don’t accept legal responsibility for a crime you’re accused of without first consulting with a criminal defense attorney.
