According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LACSP), Flenory got into a verbal altercation with a 22-year-old female photographer in Walmart parking lot on Saturday night. Flenory proceeded to follow the woman and her boyfriend to the intersection of Old Road and Pico Canyon Road, at which point he rolled down his window and fired a single shot towards the driver-side window with a BB gun.
The victim’s boyfriend, Blake Hipp, said the Flenory chased them down in a Mazda SUV, bumping into them at one point during the altercation. When Flenory attempted to ramp the couple a second time, the victim and her boyfriend swerved out of the way, only to find Flenory pointing a BB gun at their direction just seconds later.
When the BB gun was initially fired, Hipp assumed it was a gunshot while the victim thought she had been hit with a bottle.
“I heard a big pop right away. Instantly, I thought it was a gunshot. She actually thought a broken bottle hit her in the face,” said Hipp
The victim underwent surgery to remove shards of broken glass that were embedded in her eye. The medical staff at Harbor-UCLA Medical Centere are doubtful that her vision in her right eye will remain.
Officers say Flenory was uncooperative when they arrived at his home early Monday morning. In order to subdue the alleged road rage perpetrator, officers were forced to use pepper spray. And when Flenory was placed in the back seat of a cruiser, he allegedly kicked out a window while shouting and screaming profanity.
According to Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Dubin, Flenory was currently under parole at the time of his arrest. His bail has been set at $100,000.
“He was taken into custody about 8 a.m. While he was taken into custody, unfortunately, this individual chose to kick out the window of our sheriff’s department radio car and, unfortunately, deputies had to use pepper spray to take him into custody,” said Josh Dubin with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
